SEASIDE group
The research team SEASIDE (Search, Analysis, Simulate and Interact with Data systEms) is exploring ways to:
-
represent and model complex data, characterized by different heterogeneous, and multimedia information sources, from numerical and multidimensional time series to multi-level semantic data,
-
provide efficient and intelligent mechanisms for indexing, searching, and synthesizing these data,
-
propose suited distributed architectures to scale up processing of massive data.
Two applicatiion research axes are considered:
SAMSARA
aims at representing and modeling human gestures through an analysis and synthesis scheme. This supposes to have a better comprehension of the sensorimotor mechanisms underlying expressive and skilled gestures, as well as to build synthesis methods to control virtual characters.
APRIM
aims at studying and implementing natural access and efficient management for large document databases. The focus is on heterogeneous distributed databases with multimedia information. This domain deals not only with efficient indexing strategies, but also with multimedia retrieval in very large document repositories.
